Siemens ACS-64 Amtrak Cities Sprinter Locomotive

Sleek Electrics for a modern era
The ACS-64, also known as the "Amtrak Cities Sprinter", is Amtrak's replacement of the aging AEM-7 and HHP-8 electric locomotives for operation in the Northeast and Keystone Corridors. Built by Siemens and based on the EuroSprinter European electric locomotive design, the Cities Sprinter is nonetheless a unique model to North America and is built entirely in the United States. The Prototype, entering service as of February 2014, is meant to pull as many as 18 Amfleet cars at speeds of up to 125 miles per hour!

The ACS-64 has a distinct, modern streamlined look.

Kato'S ACS-64 model has been painstakingly recreated using data provided by Amtrak and the manufacturer

Take a sneak peak at the powerful DCC friendly mechanism that will drive the new ACS-64 locomotive model. The ACS-64 will be geared so that it will run at matching speeds to the Kato P42 locomotive for modelers wishing to show this locomotive "in transit", being pulled as a part of a consist on its way to an electrified location!

Like the GG1, the ACS-64 has a semi-symmetrical design between the front and back, with the roof details being the only obvious way of telling which is which.

The pantographs on the ACS-64 will be adjustable; typically it is the rear-ward pantograph that is elevated when the electric locomotive is in service.

The model will replicate the "smooth" seamless look of the prototype model with the headlights hidden behind a flush coverplate.

Roof details will be replicated with separate, pre-installed parts.

Item Description

Stock Checks:

Inventory is a fluid commodity.  It changes by the hour (sometimes by the minute). To retain our pricing structure we maintain stock levels designed to turnover 6 times each year. We cannot guarantee stock status till we have an order in hand. All product is subject to prior sale. If we confirm that we have it, and, while we are waiting for the order it sells, you would be upset that we did not hold it.
We used to hold items but learned a VERY EXPENSIVE lesson. When we held items for customers’ orders, the order never materialized 80%+ of the time.  We lost out on the orders placed while the item was on hold.  Also we wasted staff time that could have been used to pull actual orders.
Since we are well known for finding older stock the fact that it may not be on our shelves at this minute does not mean we can’t get it. So, as we spell out on our terms pages, we don’t do it anymore.
You may, however, call in and we will tell you if the items are available and if possible attempt to locate what we don’t have while you are on the phone.
