Inventory is a fluid commodity.  It changes by the hour (sometimes by the minute). To retain our pricing structure we maintain stock levels designed to turnover 6 times each year. We cannot guarantee stock status till we have an order in hand. All product is subject to prior sale. If we confirm that we have it, and, while we are waiting for the order it sells, you would be upset that we did not hold it.
We used to hold items but learned a VERY EXPENSIVE lesson. When we held items for customers’ orders, the order never materialized 80%+ of the time.  We lost out on the orders placed while the item was on hold.  Also we wasted staff time that could have been used to pull actual orders.
Since we are well known for finding older stock the fact that it may not be on our shelves at this minute does not mean we can’t get it. To encourage the return of the boxcars, shortline railroads could charge a per diem, or daily fee, until the cars were returned. Incentive Per Diem (IPD) boxcars were primarily 50’ rib side boxcars with 10’ sliding or plug doors or double sliding doors. August 10 - Intermountain has released Pre-Production photos and announced a new release of the EMD SD40-2 locomotives. Coming in ten new paint schemes with one to six road numbers for each in this release.  Coming in DC, DCC or DCC & Sound equipped variations.  These locomotives were originally seen on mainline fast freights and coal drags all across North America.  Originally introduced in 1972 many are now working daily for their second or possibly third owners.  Many of the original fleets are now working as heavy switchers in yards of those same original owners.  Five weeks ago George documented one former Santa Fe unit working west on a BNSF manifest freight!

August 10 - Intermountain has announced a new release of the 1937 AAR 40' Boxcar. It will be coming in March/April 2016. Ten new paint schemes will be included in this release.  Spanning from Canada through the USA these cars were the utilitarian car of the Golden days of railroading.  Grain, bagged products, lumber, cartons and almost anything else that could fit through the doors were shipped including newsprint.  If some one has documentation of  zulu use please provide that to us.   Eventually replaced by larger capacity cars these were relegated to tool cars and storage sheds all across the USA.  The 1937 AAR Boxcar can find a job on your layout!

Part #: MTL-039 00 250 - Soo Line - Road #: 32784 - This 40’ double-sheathed wood box car with single door is painted brown with white lettering and runs on Arch Bar trucks. Built in 1910 as part of series 31000-32798 at ACF’s Chicago facility there were a few still in service in 1948.
Part #: MTL-056 00 440 - Delaware & Hudson - Road #: D&H 6067 - This 33’ twin bay hopper with rib sides is painted blue with yellow lettering and herald. Built in 1944 and serviced in 1974 it runs on Bettendorf trucks. Nicknamed ‘The Bridge Line to New England and Canada,’ the D&H helped connect New York with Montreal, Quebec and New England.
Part #: MTL-058 00 220 - Nestlé Baby Ruth® - Road #: NADX 4530- This 36’ wood-sheathed reefer with truss rod underframe is painted brown with yellow sides and runs on Arch Bar trucks. This colorful scheme had the typical Baby Ruth logo on the right with the Curtiss president’s signature, the ‘crooked arrow’ across the door, and boasted a daily capacity of 7.5 million Baby Ruth candy bars! Part #: MTL-100 00 360 - Canadian National - Road #: CN 78647 - This 36’ caboose with offset cupola is painted red with white ‘wet noodle’ logo and runs on Bettendorf swing motion trucks. CN covers all of populated Canada and refers to their cabooses as vans.
Part #: MTL-147 00 025 - Great Northern ‘Fire Prevention’ - Road #: X1828 - This 70’ heavyweight baggage car runs on 6-wheel passenger car trucks and served as the Fire Prevention Instruction Car. This traveling classroom was painted red with yellow and orange flames painted on the sides, reinforcing the need for fire prevention. The X1828’s dramatic paint scheme also included GN heralds on each side.
Part #: MTL-148 00 050 - Pennsylvania - Road #: 7427 - This 70’ heavyweight mail baggage car is painted Tuscan red with buff lettering and black roof and runs on Pennsylvania 3D7P2 6-wheel trucks. Built by Pullman Company in 1923 and serviced in 1945, this car went to Penn Central following the merger with NYC.
